Your church can connect the AI assistant you already use — ChatGPT, Claude or another that supports connectors — so you can say "make a page for our youth ministry" and have it built in your page builder, in your words, for you to review. EasyChurchApp doesn't run an AI of its own; you bring yours, and you decide what it may do.
Before you start
AI assistants are included in paid plans. If your church is on the free plan, Settings → Billing is where to upgrade. You also need to be an admin of the church; editors and members can't connect one.
Connect it
- Open Settings → AI assistants in EasyChurchApp and copy the address shown
under Connect an assistant. It ends in
/api/mcp. - In your assistant, find where it adds connectors (in Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector; in ChatGPT: the connectors or apps settings, which may need developer mode turned on). Paste the address.
- Your assistant sends you back to EasyChurchApp to approve. Pick the church if you admin more than one, read what it will be allowed to do, and press Connect.
- Back in your assistant, ask: "What can you do for my church?" It answers from your settings. The AI assistants page now lists it under Connected assistants.
The address is the same for every assistant; each one you connect gets its own approval and shows up as its own row.
What it may do
The What assistants may do table sets a level for each area — website pages, events, groups, forms, sermons and content, announcements, people, reports, giving. Announcements stop at Draft, people and giving stop at Read, and reports are read-only:
- Off hides the area.
- Read lets it look things up and answer questions.
- Draft lets it create and change things, and publish one only when you tell it to in the conversation.
- Publish lets it make changes live without asking.
Some things are always off, whatever the levels: sending to your congregation, moving money, seeing who gave what, sensitive records, changing anyone's role, and deleting. An assistant can also ask you, in the chat, to change a level; nothing changes until you say yes, and only a person can pause assistants.
Building a page with it
Say what you want and it will ask you a few questions at a time — who the page is for, when things happen, who leads them — tidy your answers, and build the page from them. It writes only in your words: where it doesn't have a fact it leaves a marked gap and asks, rather than making something up. When it needs photos it sends you a link to add them from your phone. It shows you a preview of the page before it says it is done, and everything it makes is marked as an assistant draft in your lists until you publish it.
If something goes wrong
- "Couldn't connect" — check the address ends in
/api/mcpand that you are signed in to EasyChurchApp as an admin in the same browser. - It refuses a task — look at the level for that area. It will tell you which setting applies.
- Stop it — Disconnect on the AI assistants page ends that assistant's access at once; Pause all stops every assistant until you turn it off.
