Church online giving with no platform fee

EasyChurchApp lets your church take gifts online through your own church website and member app. The church pays only Stripe’s processing fee. EasyChurchApp adds no platform fee and no markup on any gift.

Gifts go into your church’s own Stripe account and are paid out to your church’s bank account. People can give once without making an account. Members who want to give every month can set that up and manage it themselves.

Online giving is part of the paid plans. Paid plans start at $29 a month for up to 100 active accounts. There’s no setup fee.

Church online giving fees: what your church actually pays

Your church pays Stripe’s processing fee on each gift and nothing else. I built EasyChurchApp, and I don’t take a percentage of your giving.

At Stripe’s standard US rates:

  • Card gifts: 2.9% + $0.30 for US cards. Cards issued outside the US cost an extra 1%.
  • Bank (ACH) gifts: 0.8%, capped at $5.
  • If a donor disputes a card gift with their bank, Stripe charges $15.

Here’s a $100 gift. By card, Stripe keeps $3.20 and the church gets $96.80. EasyChurchApp’s share is $0. By bank transfer, Stripe keeps $0.80 and the church gets $99.20.

Churches with 501(c)(3) status can apply for Stripe’s nonprofit rate from their Giving settings. Once Stripe approves it, card gifts cost 2.2% + $0.30.

Many giving platforms add their own fee on top of processing. With EasyChurchApp you pay the monthly plan, and every gift only carries Stripe’s fee.

Letting donors cover the processing fee

Donors can choose to cover the processing fee when they give, so the church receives the full amount they meant to give. On a $100 card gift, the form shows the donor what it costs to cover the fee before they confirm.

Online giving for small churches

Giving is built into the same website and member app your church already uses, so you don’t need a separate giving company, a separate login or a separate report. A first-time visitor who gives on their phone on Easter and a deacon who has given every month for years both show up in the same giving report.

You set up your own funds, such as General, Missions or Building, and people pick one when they give. Every donor and every gift is on one Giving page.

Giving without an account

One-time gifts don't need an account or an app download. Someone who watched your livestream, or a grandparent two states away, can go to yourchurch.org/give, choose a fund, enter a card or bank account, and give. They get an emailed receipt in your church's name, unless they choose to give anonymously. People can also give with Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Recurring giving for churches

Members can set up recurring gifts. They can give weekly, every two weeks, monthly, quarterly or once a year. A recurring gift needs a sign-in. That's so the member can pause it, change the amount, switch funds or update their card from their own phone, without calling the church office. On the church's side, you can see every active recurring gift and what they should bring in each month. When a card is about to expire, Stripe updates it automatically in most cases.

Year-end statements

One click generates a PDF for every donor (church name, EIN, fund breakdown) and emails them out.

Church year-end giving statements

EasyChurchApp makes year-end giving statements as PDFs in one click. The statements come from the giving records already in the system, so you don’t have to rebuild anything in a spreadsheet in January.

Each statement has your church’s name, EIN and address, and the donor’s gifts broken down by fund. You can email every donor their own statement at once, or download them all and print paper copies for people who want them. Members can also download their own statement from the app.

Statements include each gift’s note and your church’s logo, and you can make them for people who gave as guests. Sending them doesn’t count against your church’s monthly email allowance.

Pledge campaigns and giving drives

For a building fund, a new roof or a mission trip, you can set a goal and an end date. Call it a pledge, a faith promise or a commitment, whichever your church uses. Members make a commitment, which is a promise and not a charge, give toward it over time, and can change or cancel it themselves.

Only your church’s admins see who pledged what. Each member sees their own pledge. If you choose to show progress, your give page and the app show the campaign’s goal, how much has been given and pledged, and the days left. You can see how much has been pledged next to how much has come in.

Giving to a missionary or a person

Turn on missionary selection for a fund, and donors choose which missionary their gift supports. Turn on recipient selection, and donors can give a love offering to a specific person, such as a guest speaker, a staff member or a family in need.

Your website can show a directory of the missionaries you support on a world map. A missionary serving in a sensitive country shows only the public name you give them, with no pin on the map, and you can hide their country too.

Managing giving without opening Stripe

Your Giving page shows your payouts and balance. In settings you choose when Stripe pays your church: daily as gifts clear, weekly, monthly, or only when you run a payout yourself.

Your church's contact email gets a notice when a payout fails, a gift is disputed, or Stripe pauses giving on your account.

Keeping your current giving provider

If your church already uses another giving provider and isn't ready to change, you can keep it. Choose "Use my current provider" in EasyChurchApp and your website and app will point people to your current provider. You'd still get the website, app, groups and events, and you can move giving over later. Gifts made through your current provider stay in that provider's reports.

How to switch church giving platforms

You can start taking gifts through EasyChurchApp any time, even while your old platform is still running.

Recurring gifts can't be moved automatically, because no giving platform lets you export card details. Members set up their recurring gift again on your new give page. Announce the switch for a few Sundays and send the new link.

You can bring your past giving history with you by exporting it from your old platform as a CSV and importing it under Giving, where it shows up in each donor's history and year-end statement. There's a ready-made format for Tithe.ly and Breeze exports, and any other CSV works by matching the columns.

Security and where the money goes

Every gift is processed by Stripe and paid out to your church's own bank account. EasyChurchApp never holds your church's money.

EasyChurchApp's giving runs on Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe, which is PCI compliant, and they never touch EasyChurchApp's servers. Gifts are deposited to your church's bank account on Stripe's standard payout schedule.

Getting set up

You connect Stripe from inside EasyChurchApp. You’ll need:

  • your church’s EIN, legal name and address
  • a church checking account
  • the pastor or treasurer to verify their identity with Stripe

You can connect Stripe on the free plan ahead of time and turn giving on when you upgrade. Here’s how to connect your bank account, and once you’re live, how to share your giving link.

The rest of EasyChurchApp, including your website, custom domain, member app, groups, events and volunteer scheduling, is free for up to 10 active accounts. The free plan doesn’t include online giving, connecting AI assistants, YouTube auto-import or WorshipBoard sync. See Pricing for each plan.

Frequently asked questions

Does EasyChurchApp charge a platform fee on donations?

No. Your church pays only Stripe's processing fee, and EasyChurchApp adds nothing on top of it.

What does online giving cost a church?

You pay for an EasyChurchApp paid plan plus Stripe's processing fee on each gift. Paid plans start at $29 a month. A US card gift costs 2.9% + 30¢, plus 1% for international cards. A bank (ACH) gift costs 0.8%, capped at $5.

Is online giving included on the free plan?

No. Online giving needs a paid plan. The free plan covers up to 10 active accounts and includes everything else except online giving, online event payments, AI assistants, YouTube auto-import, automatic live-stream alerts and WorshipBoard sync.

Can donors cover the processing fee?

Yes. Donors can choose to cover the processing fee so the church receives the full amount.

Can people give with Apple Pay or Google Pay?

Yes. Apple Pay and Google Pay both work on the give form.

Can people give without creating an account?

Yes. One-time gifts don't need an account or the app. Recurring gifts need a sign-in so the member can change or cancel them later.

Can members set up recurring giving?

Yes. Members can pause, change or cancel the gift themselves from their phone or computer. They can give weekly, every two weeks, monthly, quarterly or yearly.

Can we run a pledge campaign?

Yes. Members make a pledge and track what they've given toward it. Only your admins see individual pledges, and you can show the campaign's goal and progress on your give page.

Can donors give to a specific missionary?

Yes. Turn on missionary selection for a fund and donors choose which missionary their gift supports.

How do year-end giving statements work?

One click creates a PDF statement for every donor from your giving records. You can email each donor their own statement or download them all to print.

Can we switch from Tithe.ly, Pushpay or another giving platform?

Yes. You can start taking gifts through EasyChurchApp while your old platform is still running. Members need to set up their recurring gifts again, because card details can't be exported from your old platform. You can also import past giving history from a CSV.

Can we keep our current giving provider?

Yes. Choose "Use my current provider" and your EasyChurchApp website and app will send people to the provider you already use. You can move giving to EasyChurchApp later.

Does our church need to be a 501(c)(3)?

You need an EIN to accept payments through Stripe. Churches with 501(c)(3) status can apply for Stripe's nonprofit rate.

Is online giving secure?

Yes. Giving runs on Stripe, which is PCI compliant. Card details are handled by Stripe and never touch EasyChurchApp's servers, and gifts are deposited to your church's bank account on Stripe's standard payout schedule.

Will we know if a payout fails?

Yes. Your church's contact email gets a notice if a payout fails, a gift is disputed, or Stripe pauses giving on your account.

Can people give by text message?

No. EasyChurchApp doesn't have text-to-give. People can give from their phone at yourchurch.org/give, which is easy to announce from the pulpit. There's also a shorter link, yourchurch.org/g.
