Every church starts with a home page. As you add more, each page needs a place in your menu so people can find it. Both live under Website in the sidebar.
Add a page
- Go to Website. You land on the Pages tab.
- Under Your pages, click Add Page.
- Pick a starting layout, then give the page a title. Its web address fills in from the title, and you can change it.
- Leave Show it in my site menu ticked so people can find the page.
- Click Create & Edit. The page opens in the builder.
A new page stays hidden from visitors until you click Publish. Its spot in the menu stays hidden until then too.
To change a page's title or web address later, or how it looks in Google and when shared, click the page's name at the top of the builder.
Change your menu
Go to Website and open the Menu tab. The list there is your menu, top to bottom, the way it reads left to right on your site.
- Rename a link by typing over its name.
- Use the up and down arrows to move a link.
- Click the eye to hide a link without removing it.
- Click Add to menu to add one of your pages, a section of your home page, a page your site already has (Events, Sermons, Give), the member login, or a link to another website.
- To group a few links under one heading, add a dropdown (for example "About"), then use the menu next to each link to move it in.
Click Save menu when you're done. Your site shows the new menu at once, on every page and along the bottom.
Only six links fit across the top. Anything after the sixth goes under More, so put related links into a dropdown to keep them in view.
One page, or separate pages?
At the top of the Menu tab you choose what happens when someone picks Events, Groups, Sermons or Giving:
- Scroll down the home page keeps everything on one page. This suits a small site.
- Open its own page takes them to a full page for that topic. This suits a site with more going on.
You can switch back and forth at any time. The pages themselves always exist, so a link someone shared still works either way.
